What We’re Looking For—And Who Should Be Nominated

The Power Paralegal Awards honor the legal support professionals who innovate, lead, mentor, and rebuild—quietly and powerfully—every day.

Remember: You can nominate yourself or someone else. Each nomination must be submitted separately. Judges will review entries privately (this is not a popularity contest).

The Trailblazer Award

For paralegals doing something bold, new, or outside the box.

We’re looking for professionals who:

  • Started a niche business or service
  • Broke into a new market or underserved area of law
  • Took a major career pivot to do something innovative
  • Created a new model for delivering legal support (e.g., flat fee systems, tech-integrated delivery, virtual firm launches)

This is the “first-to-do-it” award for legal entrepreneurship and creativity.

The Systems Architect

For the paralegal who runs operations like a boss.

We want to see:

  • Clean, documented systems or SOPs they created or improved
  • Use of tools like ClickUp, Notion, Gavel.io, Dubsado, or Clio to streamline workflows
  • Leadership in organizing chaos—especially in agencies or small firms
  • Mentions from colleagues who rely on this person to “make things make sense”

📦 If they’re the one fixing bottlenecks or organizing the entire backend, this is their category.

The Innovator in Legal Tech Award

For the tech-savvy pro embracing automation, AI, and new tools.

Judges are looking for:

  • Use of tech like Clio, Gavel, Zapier, ChatGPT, document automation, etc.
  • Evidence they helped a firm adopt or scale tech
  • Thought leadership—webinars, TikToks, blogs, or internal training
  • Tech courage: trying, testing, and teaching smarter ways to work
Mentor of the Year

For the person who lifts others up, formally or informally.

We’re seeking:

  • Consistent mentorship of newer paralegals or students
  • Evidence of community support (e.g., answering questions in forums, organizing meetups, offering resume help)
  • Testimonials or stories about how they’ve changed someone’s career
  • Strong impact without gatekeeping

🤝 Think of the person who always makes time to help someone grow.

The Resilience Award

For the one who came back stronger.

Nominees should:

  • Have a personal story of overcoming hardship, burnout, or a toxic firm
  • Be willing to share how they rebuilt, relaunched, or redefined their career
  • Show impact post-recovery: launching a business, changing firms, mentoring others, etc.
  • Inspire others with their ability to keep going when things got hard

💪 This award honors strength, vulnerability, and comeback stories.

The Justice Champion

For the legal support pro committed to equity, access, and advocacy.

Ideal nominees:

  • Volunteer in legal clinics, pro bono programs, or nonprofit legal orgs
  • Advocate for underserved communities (immigration, housing, DV, expungements, etc.)
  • Do outreach beyond their day job—teaching, speaking, or sharing info
  • Are known for giving back even when their own time is limited

⚖️ This is about service, heart, and real-world impact.

The Visionary Award

For the big-picture thinker shaping the profession.

Nominees might be:

  • Legal educators or coaches
  • Content creators, podcasters, writers, or speakers
  • Paralegals pushing thought leadership on LinkedIn, TikTok, or in publications
  • Leaders creating programs, platforms, or models that elevate the entire field

🌟 This is for the people showing the world what a paralegal can really do.

The OG Power Paralegal

A legacy award for staying power, evolution, and industry-wide respect.

Nominees must:

  • Have 10+ years in the profession
  • Show consistent growth, adaptability, and excellence
  • Be known for mentoring, leading, or inspiring others in the field
  • Still be out here doing the work—with grace, grit, and impact

🎤 They’ve seen it all. And they’re still slaying.
